“The Mountain of Spirits.” That’s how the name of Manaslu is translated from Sanskrit. No wonder it beckons all spiritual seekers. Who knows, maybe the sacred teaching and enlightening is waiting for you at the altitude of 8163 meters above the sea level?!
How to Get There
Manaslu belongs to the Central Himalayan Ridge, and it’s a real gem of the Gorkha District. You can easily reach Gorkha from Kathmandu by bus. The way to the Base Camp passes through rice fields, forests and local Nepalese settlements with original Buddhist traditions.
Go trekking to see the mountain from all the sides. The Manaslu Circuit that lasts about 14 days offers an excellent opportunity to contemplate the mountain all around. In good weather, hikers can see the snowy peak on the other famous trail – the Annapurna Circuit.
Thanks to the long mountain ridges and vast glaciers the top of the peak is approachable from every side. However, the steep peak makes the climb more dangerous than you might expect from the very beginning. Remember – your strength and altitude sickness resistance are the keys to your successful climb.
Put off all your businesses. Fly to Nepal. Enjoy Manaslu!
